You are cordially invited to attend Tree House Books: 7th Annual Life With Books Fundraiser to celebrate the 11th anniversary of Tree House Books and to honor Ted Swenson, who served on the board for six years and remains a strong supporter of Tree House.
If you haven’t heard of Tree House Books, we would be delighted to introduce you to our work and mission, to grow and sustain a community of readers, writers and thinkers. If you have been part of the journey, we look forward both to reflecting on where we’ve been and to building our community programs for a new school year of growth and discovery together.
Tree House Books was conceived in 2005 as a community bookstore on the 1400 block of Susquehanna Avenue in North Central Philadelphia a culturally rich yet historically underserved and marginalized region of Philadelphia. This autumn 2016 we mark 11 years of age, and we can imagine that Tree House is entering the 6th grade alongside its peers, students ages 4-16. Who will we meet this school year? At Tree House Books, children engage with each other, volunteers and community professionals for reading assistance and homework help, and families participate in enriching experiences with a social, emotional and cultural focus, to inspire reading in the home.
On Wednesday, November, 9th, 2016, please join us in celebration at our Life With Books Fundraiser! The event will include presentation of an award to Ted Swenson, and a cocktail reception with performances and words from children, families, staff, VIPs and volunteers. This year, our celebration will take place in Center City at the new headquarters of Saxbys Coffee (located at 2300 Chestnut Street) from 6 to 8pm.
